Our GREAT Programme uses a ‘whole-child’ approach where each pupil has a GREAT profile across each subject so that we can assist them in developing their strengths and interests. 

We’ve adapted GREAT from Kent College Canterbury

Using the Principles of our sister school Kent College Canterbury (Junior) that introduced GREAT to accelerate children’s progress academically and in Art, Design, Drama, Music and Sport through their maximum skill acquisition, we have adapted the GREAT programme to align with our needs for recognition across our entire curriculum and in order to take into account our local context.

We also took into account the the KHDA’s definitions of Gifted and Talented as follows: 

• The KHDA Inspection Framework 2015(4.1) utilises the “Differentiation Model of Giftedness and Talent” 
• Giftedness will refer to “a student who is in possession of untrained and spontaneously-expressed exceptional natural ability in one or more domains of human ability.”
• Talented will refer to “a student who has been able to transform their ‘giftedness’ into exceptional performance”. Talented pupils will always demonstrate exceptional levels of competence in the specific domains of human ability.

Each subject area has a cohort to stretch and challenge, and pupils who are gifted and talented in 3 or more disciplines, join our whole school Talented and Gifted cohort where they will be given extra guidance and mentorship to truly fulfill their potential.
