Key Stage 1

Years 1 and 2 are a focus for independent and pupil-led approaches, where individual contributions are valued as pupils begin to see that they have much to offer the wider community of their school. Specialists teach Sports, Music and Arabic, ensuring high levels of understanding in these subjects.

Our Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) programme begins in Year 1, offering many opportunities for skills and talents to be nurtured and practised in preparation for sporting, artistic and musical participation in Key Stage 2.

Key Stage 2

Specialist lessons continue in Key Stage 2, and extend to include Modern Foreign Languages and Islamic Studies. More specialised learning centres are also available to the children in Key Stage 2, including a Science Laboratory, Food Technology Room, Art and Design Technology rooms, a PSHE room and Primary Library.

Key Stage 2 also sees the pupils involved in residential trips – a wonderful and exciting adventure for our maturing learners! These take place from year 3 onwards.

Moral Education is an innovative, engaging curriculum designed to develop young people in the UAE, of all nationalities and ages, to understand universal principles and values. Our lessons are based around four main pillars:

  • Character and Morality
  • The Individual and The Community
  • Cultural Studies
  • Civic Studies

At Kent College Dubai, we aim to teach MEC using a cross curricular approach, providing engaging and meaningful lessons for children (Year 2-6) that expand on our Learner Profile attributes. This helps children to develop lifelong skills and qualities, that allow them to live in a multi-cultural environment and become responsible members of the community.

Moral Education also aims to provide children with an understanding of the UAE, how it was formed and how it is governed today.

Social Studies helps explain the world we live in. Pupils learn about the past and present, become aware of what it means to be a global citizen, discover new places around the world, and find out about economic choices, trends and more. At Kent College Dubai we believe it is important for young people to fully understand the environment that they are growing up in. The Social Studies curriculum explores the people, society and community of Dubai and the UAE.
